The second Rudram 11 event was held in Johannesburg at the Transnet School of Rail on Saturday, 7 December 2024.
Rudram 11 is a prayer for world peace and harmony. The event commenced with the chanting of the Ganapathi Prarthana and Gayatri mantra, followed by chanting the Namakam and Chamakam. The vibrations from the chanting creates a tranquil and vibrant atmosphere.
In the 7th Anuvaka (verse) of the Namakam, the Divine's all pervading presence in waters, rains, clouds and storms is described. Gauteng is currently undergoing severe heatwave and water restrictions. A devotee shared with us that during the chanting they were intensely praying for rain. It was therefore truly Divine grace that after the Rudram 11 event was complete it started to rain in the surrounding areas of the venue! "Yo rudro agnau yo apsu ya osadhisu yo rudro vishva bhuvana vivesha tasmai rudraya namo astu" - To the Rudra who is fire, who is water, who is in trees and plants, who has entered into the entire Universe, to that Rudra, let our salutations go.
