On Sunday 26th January 2025, the ISKCON temple in Sandton was filled with the powerful resonance of the Sri Rudram chant, creating an atmosphere of profound spiritual connection.
The three-hour session proved to be more than just a ritual – it became a deeply transformative experience for all participants. Many devotees, particularly those experiencing the Rudram11 for the first time, expressed how the chanting touched them on a profound level "beyond explanation". What makes these events particularly meaningful is how they're helping to fulfill a greater purpose of making the Vedas accessible to all. With each session, we're witnessing the gradual but certain achievement of this noble goal, bringing the Vedas within reach of everyone.
Devotees also shared their gratitude for having a dedicated monthly platform for such energising spiritual practices. As one devotee noted, the calmness and serenity experienced during the session wasn't merely temporary – it created a lasting impression that carried forward into the next day, suggesting the deep impact of this Divine chant.

ISKCON belongs to the Gaudiya-Vaishnava sampradaaya, a monotheistic tradition within the Vedic or Hindu culture. Philosophically it is based on the Sanskrit texts Bhagavad-Gītā and the Bhagavat Purana, or Srimad Bhagavatam. These are the historic texts of the devotional bhakti yoga tradition, which teaches that the ultimate goal for all living beings is to reawaken their love for God, or Lord Krishna, the “all-attractive one”.
The Anushaasana Parva is a portion from Mahabharata which describes a conversation between Bhagavan Krishna and King Yudhishthira. Lord Krishna reveals that He gets up early every morning to recite the Rudram as His daily sadhana. He even adds that one can attain anything through Rudram. Not just that, Lord Rama belonged to the Veda Shaakha which contains Rudram. So Rudram was the nitya karma for Lord Rama too.
The success of this session sets an auspicious tone for the year ahead, with many looking forward to future monthly Rudram 11’s. It served as a powerful reminder of how collective spiritual practices can create ripples of positive energy that extend far and wide.
